Opportunities to volunteer are available throughout the city at youth centers, after school, evenings and weekends. Volunteers coach a wide range of sports, tutor children in homework help, assist with high school and college admissions, test preparation, resume writing, job interview techniques, learning crafts and exploring personal hobbies. If you have the time and are willing to make an ongoing commitment to PAL children, please call Frank Williams at 201-434-3366 or E-mail director@jerseycitypal.org.
Program Volunteers
1. Individual volunteers offer their own personal knowledge and experience in working with children in a variety of ways such as job training, tutoring, educational initiatives, performing arts, crafts or computers. PAL has a great need for tutors throughout the city. In addition, volunteers may support the Development or Administrative departments at the main office in Jersey City. 2. Corporate volunteers from companies or corporations may provide support as individuals, in partnerships with fellow employees or in groups. A wide range of opportunities are available. In addition, PAL needs support and participation in special events.
Volunteers are asked to make a two-hour per week commitment. There is a mandatory background check for all volunteer applicants.
